HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE NAMM SHOW 2016

The annual Winter NAMM show has just wrapped up in Anaheim, California. As usual the industry is abuzz with new models and reissues of old classics throughout the musical instrument and hi-tech world. There's a lot to take in, so we've picked our favourite 20 (in no particular order) for your perusal. Check them out below!

ARTURIA MATRIX BRUTE

One of the most well respected names in the software instrument and plug in world have come out with a new analog synth that they are calling 'arguably the most powerful analog monophonic synthesizer ever! As flexible as a modular system but offering presets'. We've got to say that it does look very impressive.

BOSS VB-2W VIBRATO

A reissue/update of the old classic Boss VB-2. The price on these in the second hand market has been rising over the years to exorbitant amounts so its great to see it's being made again, in it's all analog glory at an affordable price.

EARTHQUAKER DEVICES AVALANCHE RUN DELAY/REVERB

Many firsts from Akron's finest. First pedal built on a new high powered DSP platform, first with tap tempo and first with stereo output. With features including reverse and swell modes, trails or true bypass modes, sound on sound style looping and an auto oscillation feature, we are definitely pretty excited about this one!

GUILD S-200

Guild had a prototype on display for the newly resurrected S-200 T-Bird. Complete with the slider switches and hagstrom style tremolo of the 60's original, we are eagerly awaiting these to be available.

KORG MINILOGUE

Definitely one of the most talked about products from the event, the new Korg Minilogue is a 37-Key polyphonic analog synthesizer at a very affordable price. Expect these to be snapped up swiftly when they hit our shores.

WALRUS AUDIO JULIA CHORUS/VIBRATO

The Julia from Walrus Audio offers a unique set of controls that allow you to access not only classic chorus and vibrato sounds but a blend in between. It also offers a lag control that tweaks the delay time of the modulation as well as a wave shape toggle switch. Expect extremely high build quality lots of versatility from this one.

WAVES ABBEY ROAD PLATE REVERB PLUGIN

Featuring precise modelling of four plate reverbs from the iconic British studio's EMT 140, each with a unique sonic character. These reverbs are all over some of the biggest records of all time from the likes of Pink Floyd, The Beatles and many more.

ROLAND SYSTEM-500 COMPLETE SET

A eurorack format based on the legendary System-700 and System 100M. The System-500 Complete set is a fully analog modular synthesizer complete with multiple oscillators, filters and effects. Roland have exacted extreme attention to detail that has delivered an amazingly versatile instrument that delivers the classic character and playability of a vintage Roland synth.

MXR REVERB

Featuring 6 different reverb modes and the newly designed Constant Headroom Technology. Modes include Plate, Spring, Epic, Mod, Room and Pad. There's plenty of reverb pedals floating around out there these days but expect MXR to deliver a versatile, highly musical and indestructible take on the effect.

SUPRO 1695T BLACK MAGICK

Since Absara Audio have taken the reigns on the Supro name they've released some classic reissues as well as some new models. The new Black Magick is a take on the classic 59 design with a few new features. At 25 watts with a 1x12" British voiced speaker, this is the highest gain model of the Supro range.
