Music Can Make Your Child Smarter
Music
lessons have been shown to improve a child’s performance in school.
After eight months of keyboard lessons, pre-schoolers tested showed a
46% boost in their spatial IQ, which is crucial for higher brain
functions such as complex mathematics.
The
actual practice of arts and music can engage the imagination, foster
flexible ways of thinking, develop disciplined effort and build self
confidence.
The
science journal “Nature” reports that studies have found that school
children who had music lessons were generally more successful in school
over all than those who did not.
Music
encourages and develops, among other things, self discipline, problem
solving, co operative and social skills and sensitivity to one’s
environment.
Adults can Enjoy Learning Too
Playing a musical instrument is not only fun but can help you unwind and relax after a busy day.
The
ABC and Washington Post report that playing a musical instrument
regularly can significantly lower the risk of developing Alzheimer’s
disease or other forms of dementia.
Remember, it’s never too late to start learning.
If you don’t own your musical instrument yet there are some requirements your music teacher would prefer you to have.
The
team at World of Music can explain the benefits of different
instruments and help you choose the instrument that is going to be most
suitable for you. |
