Guild Electrics – Who’s Playing Them?

Saturday 25th of August 2018

We’ve just landed a shipment of Guild Guitars back into stock. It’s the first we’ve seen of them since Cordoba took over the reigns towards the end of last year. Operation is just getting started at the Oxnard, California factory so we haven’t had a chance to check out any of the guitars from there yet but the ones we’ve seen so far have a fantastic build quality, play great and sound even better! Their acoustic and electric guitars have long been a favourite to many musicians over the years such as Richie Havens, Nick Drake, Tom Petty, Jeff Buckley, Brian May, Slash, Kim Thayil from Soundgarden, Jerry Garcia and many others.

The name Guild is often initially synonymous with Acoustic instruments but we wanted to take a look specifically at their electrics. And even more specifically at some more recent legends who are playing these guitars…

Carrie Brownstein from Sleater Kinney & Wild Flag uses a Guild S-100 Polara as one of her main guitars.

Leslie Feist uses both Starfire III’s and Starfire IV’s

Stephen Malkmus from Pavement and Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks using an S-100 Polara

Daniel Rossen from Grizzly Bear uses an S-100 Polara and T-50 Hollowbody

James Mercer from The Shins uses a Starfire IV

Annie Clark from St Vincent uses an M-75 Aristocrat as one of the few guitars she uses, as seen in the ‘Birth in Reverse’ clip
