We really like the Organelle from Critter and Guitari. I mean, we REALLY like it. It’s endlessy expandable, super compact, really intuitive and will have you creating new ideas within seconds of playing it. One of the things we like most about it though is the sense of community it has created around designing new patches. Using the music programming environment ‘Pure Data’, users can edit pre-existing patches or create new patches from scratch, meaning that the flexibility and expandability of the Organelle is only limited by the human imagination. The best part of this expandability is that users can share their patches with other Organelle users, meaning that you have a huge library of sounds available outside of the ones that come stock on the unit. The user patches can be easy downloadable over at Patch Storage but to save you the time of scrolling through the huge amount of patches available, we’ve picked 10 of our favourites. You can have a listen and see how they work on the video below and also be sure to check out more info on the Organelle here.
