The cornerstone of the Gibson ES lineup
The Gibson ES-335 is the cornerstone of the Gibson ES lineup. From its inaugural appearance in 1958, the Gibson ES-335 immediately set an unmatched standard, and it is still one of the world’s most popular electric guitar models. It has been widely imitated, but never duplicated. Regardless of the styles of music you play, from rock to blues, from country to metal, the ES-335 can handle them all. Now, the ES-335 is available with a satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish that gives it the look of a cherished, longtime musical companion, and is offered at a more accessible price.
The ES-335 Satin’s body is crafted with layered maple/poplar/maple for the top, back, and sides. The body is outfitted with a solid maple centre-block to create the impressive sustain, warmth, and resonant tone that players crave in a semi-hollow body instrument. The solid maple centre block also dramatically reduces the unwanted feedback that often plagues full hollow-body guitars. The mahogany neck has a comfortable, Rounded C profile that is easy to play. It’s not too large or too small, but “just right” for many players. It is topped with a rosewood fretboard with a 12” radius that makes playing first-position chords and bending strings without fretting out equally easy, and that is dressed up with acrylic dot inlays, and equipped with 22 medium jumbo frets. A Graph Tech nut and Vintage Deluxe tuners with Keystone buttons help keep the tuning dialled in, while the nickel-plated ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and aluminium Stop Bar tailpiece anchor the strings solidly at the other end, right into the maple centre-block, to deliver the outstanding sustain that the ES-335 is famous for. Gibson Calibrated T-Type rhythm (neck) and lead (bridge) pickups are perfectly matched to each other for balanced tone and output in all switch positions, and offer a wide range of tones and further reinforce the ES-335 Satin’s exceptional versatility. They are hand-wired to individual volume and tone controls with 500k potentiometers and Orange Drop tone capacitors, along with a three-way pickup selector switch that lets you run either pickup individually or combine them at will in any ratio you desire, since a separate volume knob controls each. The control knobs are stylish black Top Hats with silver reflectors. The Gibson ES-335 Satin comes with a Gibson hardshell case to keep it safe and secure when you’re on the way to your next jam session or gig.
